How to Meditate: An Introduction to Mindfulness
In this class led by wellness coach Laena Mira, you'll learn the basics of starting a personal meditation practice. Laena will cover how to relax your mind, sharpen your concentration, increase calmness and clarity, and induce sustainable, conscious happiness. Most importantly, she'll share tools to reduce stress and anxiety, and become more resilient.
This class is open to anyone who wants to learn more about mindfulness, whether you've meditated 100 times or 0. Laena will address the basic barriers that many beginners face, such as: How long do I meditate? Where should I meditate? What do I focus on? How do I overcome distractions? The workshop will include some guided meditations and provide plenty of time for questions.

What You Need:
Laena Mira is a wellness coach, educator, and doula. She grew up immersed in a rural mindset that a fulfilling life is rooted in a healthy, balanced body and the practice of contemplation. This imprinting developed into an urban survival ethos: that connection and awareness of our bodies, community, and how we inspire & nourish ourselves creates a richer, more meaningful life. Laena offers classes in self-care, meditation, fermentation, fertility awareness, and creative entrepreneurship.
In addition to her work as a wellness coach, Laena is the founder and CEO of Anarchy in a Jar. Laena grew up making preserves with her family in New York’s Hudson Valley. An international career in science support and academia ignited her interest in food, and she learned creative recipes from people she met around the world for preserved foods that were both tasty and healing. Laena landed back in NYC and decided to make her passion for preservation into a business. She launched Anarchy in a Jar in 2009, embracing a revived demand for fresh, local, creative food. With help from her team of tasters, fellow food makers and fans, she grew the business into a plant-based condiment powerhouse, where she stirs her eclectic experience and passion for plants into elixirs of the jar.
